Heraklion Port Authority S.A. manages one of Greece’s twelve most important ports and is a founding member of the Hellenic Ports Association. Second in passenger traffic after the Port of Piraeus, we are fully equipped and staffed to render highly competitive and efficient services to all forms of shipping.

Situated at the center of Heraklion Prefecture’s northern coast and adjacent to island’s capital, our Port occupies a location that has harbored maritime trade for about five millennia. It was developed during the 20th Century and expanded east of its antique predecessor, the 700 hundred year old fortified Venetian Harbor that is now a marina and public recreation area.

The New Passenger Terminal is an ergonomically designed and fully air-conditioned 2,500 m² facility, equipped to handle both ferry and cruise operations with efficiency and comfort.

All necessary requirements to conduct modern passport & security clearances are in place, including latest X-ray scanner and magnetic arch equipment. In addition, there is a dedicated check-in area specifically organized for cruise ship turnarounds and home porting. In cases of cruise line–airline cooperation, the terminal is fully capable of handling off airport check-ins.

Other terminal features include two passenger halls, ferry line ticketing & car rental desks, retail outlets, a snack bar & cafeteria, a tourist information kiosk, ATM access, short-term luggage storage lockers and a small infirmary. Luggage trolleys are available in the passenger halls.
